The History of Amatech Inc.

Amatech's beginnings started as an idea to create a reusable packaging container that could duplicate a cardboard box but be made of plastic corrugated, allowing for multiple uses. The reusable packaging design could be knocked down flat like a standard cardboard box for return shipment, saving valuable space in a truck or warehouse until needed again.

David Amatangelo, the founder and owner of Amatech, worked on this returnable packaging design concept for years. In 1990, he was awarded his first US Patent (#4,948,039), which enabled the plastic corrugated reusable packaging container to fold down flat, overcoming the natural tendency of plastic to spring back to its original shape.

This returnable packaging design allowed companies to easily transition from expendable shipping containers to reusable ones without major system changes, aside from planning for returns. Amatech was ahead of the curve on reusability and sustainability, initially promoting these products as a cost-saving strategy due to their durability - long before "green" became a popular marketing concept.

Since 1989, Amatech has continued to grow, now operating in three manufacturing locations: two in Erie, Pennsylvania, and one in Columbus, Ohio, spanning over 100,000 sq. ft. We are dedicated to providing high-quality reusable packaging and exceptional service to our customers.
